The Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express will double its capacity and reduce travel time just a month after its launch. Starting today (17 May), the train will have 16 coaches instead of eight.

Secunderabad-Tirupati Vande Bharat Express will travel 660 km in 8 hours and 15 minutes instead of 8 hours and 30 minutes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8 April flagged off the new Vande Bharat Express train between Secunderabad in Telangana to Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, a move aimed at strengthening connectivity between pilgrim centres to boost the local economy.

Though there are five other trains running between these two cities, this Vande Bharat service is drawing the maximum number of passengers because of less travel time.

Tirupati is a highly popular pilgrimage centre, which is known for its famous Sri Venkateswara Temple, one of the most visited Hindu pilgrimage sites in the world. The temple receives millions of devotees every year, who come to seek the blessings of the Lord Venkateswara.

By shortening travel time between the two cities by over three hours, the Secunderabad (Telangana) -Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh) Vande Bharat Express will be extremely helpful for pilgrims.

Following the Secunderabad Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express, this is the second Vande Bharat train to originate from Hyderabad within a short period of time.

In the past three months, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, has launched six Vande Bharat Express trains, with the latest being between Ajmer and Delhi Cantt. Along with reducing travel time between Jaipur and Delhi, this launch is expected to enhance Rajasthan's tourism industry. Sacred locations such as Theerthraj Pushkar and Ajmer Sharif will be more accessible thanks to the train. Notably, Rajasthan's first Vande Bharat Express was also flagged off by the Prime Minister last month.
