Virgin Hyperloop Project in India.
Global consulting firms Systra, Roland Burger, Dornier and PWC are among 14 major players who have evinced keen interest to become consultant of the Railways for its ambitious Hyperloop project.
Going ahead with the Hyperloop project on a demonstrative purpose, Indian Railways is planning to appoint a consultant for technical, commercial, legal and financial study of the project.
The consultant will also drift the bid document for a demonstrative project on Hyperloop/any other emerging transportation technology.
E&Y, KPMG, DB Engg and RITES are other firms who had participated in the pre-bid meeting on the Hyperloop project last week.
The Railways will select the consultant shortly to firm up the Hyperloop plan.
Earlier Indian Railways had joined hands with IIT-Madras on a joint mission to develop India's own Hyperloop, a new system that proposes to use the magnetic levitation technology in tubes to enable travel at aeroplane-like speeds.
It’s the Hyperloop’s low energy requirement that has drawn the Railways towards the project which can help in its endeavours to attain Carbon neutrality.
Indian Railways and IIT-Madras are setting off on a joint mission to develop India’s own Hyperloop, a new system that proposes to use the magnetic levitation technology in tubes to enable travel at aeroplane-like speeds.
When complete, the Indian system will be at par with the Virgin Hyperloop facility in the US in terms of functionality.
