10 Indonesian Tablighi Preachers Who Tested Coronavirus Positive in Telangana Recover

Ten Indonesian Tablighi Jamaat preachers, who all tested positive for Coronavirus (Covid-19) at Karimnagar in Telangana, have recovered and been discharged from the Government-run Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad.

The Hans India reported that the Indonesians will be kept under quarantine under the supervision of a doctor belonging to the Indonesian embassy at least until the nation-wide lockdown ends on 14 April.

The Indonesian Tabligh Jamaat preachers were among the first few to test Covid-19 positive in Telangana. Their samples tested positive on 18 March.

Three more Indonesian preachers, all part of a 13-member group, tested positive for the pandemic virus on 20 March. Three persons, all members of a family in Karimnagar, also tested positive to Coronavirus after coming in contact with the Indonesians.

The Indonesian preachers of the Tablighi Jamaat, which means the Society for Spreading Faith that originated from Mewat in Haryana in 1926, had come to India to teach Muslims in Karimnagur on leading an orthodox life as it was during the Prophet’s time.

After landing in Delhi on 9 March, the preachers went to Bhopal before boarding train for Ramagundam. From there, they drove to Kurnool and Karimnagar.

So far, 127 persons have tested positive for Coronavirus in Telangana of the nearly 2,000 in the country. Nine persons have succumbed to the pandemic virus, while 14, including the Indonesians, have recovered.
