106 Km Long With 11 Stations: First Phase Of Delhi-Alwar Rapid Rail Transit Approved, Will Pass Through Gurugram

The proposal for the first phase of Delhi-Alwar rapid rail transit system (RRTS) has been approved by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) board, reports Financial Express.
This section of the RRTS corridor will connect Delhi and Shahjahanpur-Neemrana-Behror Urban Complex, via Gurugram.
It is reported to be 106 km long with 11 elevated stations and five underground stations. The corridor would also have underground stations at Delhi and Gurgaon.
The project would also be integrated to the Delhi Metro at four of its existing stations at Sarai Kale Khan, Munirka, Jor Bagh and Aerocity.
The trains in the RRTS would run at an average speed of 100 kilometre per hour with a frequency of 5-10 minutes. In order to attract more people to use the public transport system, there are plans to have a business class coach in every train of the project.
The corridor is expected to significantly reduce the travel time between Shahjahanpur-Neemrana-Behror Urban Complex and Delhi to less than 70 minutes.
At a base construction cost of Rs 24,975 crore, the project will be 20 per cent funded by the government of India, 20 per cent by the concerned state governments and other 60 per cent by the bilateral and multilateral agencies involved. The corridor is estimated to be constructed in around five years excluding one year of pre-construction activities.
