Two-Year-Old Girl Dies In Shimla Hospital Due To Swine Flu; Toll Touches Four In Himachal

This month’s (January 2019) swine flu toll in Himachal Pradesh has climbed to four, with the latest victim being a two-year-old girl who succumbed to the disease at a hospital in Shimla, reports Business Standard.

The deceased child has been identified as Priyanka of Bamta village in Bilaspur district. She had been admitted to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) in Shimla on 20 January for treatment.

Previously, two residents of Mandi district and a person belonging to Shimla district died of the disease at the same hospital.

The individuals who passed away are 64-year-old Jagdish of Gagal village in Mandi district, 65-year-old Padma Ram of Thandapani, Mandi, and 56-year-old Chander Shekhar of Shimla’s Chewda village.

Senior Medical Superintendent of IGMC, Janak Raj, said that in total, swine flu had been detected in 20 patients at the hospital this season, with five of them being currently treated, and 11 having been already discharged after successful treatment.
