The Ministry of Home Affairs has given its go ahead to a major cadre restructuring in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) which would allow for the creation of thousands of new positions for its personnel, reports Hindustan Times.
Around 2.37 lakh soldiers of the CRPF would benefit as this would create an increased number of vacancies for promotions for the lower ranks. The last time such a major cadre review was conducted by the CRPF was way back in 1939.
This move by the home ministry will see the number of sanctioned sub-inspector vacancies rise by 100 per cent, the number of inspector posts rise by 91 per cent, the number of head constable posts see an increase of 40 per cent, and the number of assistant sub inspector (ASI) vacancies jumping by 34 per cent.
Apart from better promotion opportunities for personnel, and the possibility of improved pay, this restructuring will also have other benefits.
“This anti-stagnation drive would also motivate them to be fitter, a criteria vital for the promotion of those in uniformed services,” CRPF spokesperson Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Moses Dhinakaran said.
