Undeterred by the disruptions caused by COVID-19 pandemic, the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Government has allotted industrial land to 69 firms near the upcoming international airport in Jewar in Gautam Buddh Nagar district between the months of April and July, reports Economic Times.

The 69 firms have been allotted a total of 146.5 acres of industrial land to set up production and manufacturing facilities which are likely to lead to an investment of Rs 2,300 crore with employment generation for as many as 86,000 individuals.

While the month of April saw land allotment activity come to a grinding halt, the trend was reversed in the successive months.

In May, nine firms were allotted 37.5 acres of land with proposed investment of Rs 1,285.58 crore and expected creation of 5,996 jobs. In June, 16 firms were allotted 25.88 acres of land with proposed investment of Rs 315.7 crore and expected creation of 26,686 jobs, according to Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA)'s officer on special duty Shailendra Bhatia

Thereafter in July, the activity gained further pace as 83.27 acres of land was allotted to 44 firms with proposed investment of Rs 786.93 crore and an expected creation of 53,763 jobs.

The land has been allotted to the 69 firms in Noida's Sectors 29, 32 and 33. It should be noted that the Sector 29 is being developed as an apparel park which would in the future house several firms dealing in readymade garments.
