The Tablighi Jamaat’s transgressions are hampering India’s fight against coronavirus pandemic.
The collector of Rajnandgaon district in Chhattisgarh has warned that all Tablighi Jamaat members should voluntarily disclose their travel history. Those failing to do so will be "booked under IPC 302 0r 307 (murder or attempt to murder".
The district collector also said that only priests have been permitted to carry out daily rituals in places of worship and that all religions have been "restricted from holding or conducting any religious gatherings" such as pujas, aradhanas etc.
“As there has been a significant number of positive coronavirus cases among the people who attended the Tablighi Jamaat event, they are requested to disclose any travel history after March 1, 2020, or if anyone has visited their place from in or outside Chhattisgarh is also to be notified”, the collector’s order said.
The Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has said that the situation in the state is under control. The number of individuals who have tested positive for coronavirus in the state stood at 18.
