Sushma Swaraj with the Bhutanese royal family.
The Bhutanese King JJigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck has led special prayers at Simtokha Dzong to pay his tributes to the late Indian leader Sushma Swaraj, PTI has reported.
A thousand butten lamps were lit in memory of the leader who had received the Bhutanese royal family during their visit to India in 2017. A special message was also posted on social media from the Bhutanese king’s account.
The message has called Swaraj a ‘friend of Bhutan’ and that she ‘contributed to strengthening the relations between our two countries’.
The leader’s last rites were earlier attended by the Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering in New Delhi along with dignitaries from several other countries.
