Sabarimala has been closed after five days of turmoil. A petition has been filed in the Kerala High Court seeking a directive to conduct a judicial inquiry. A retired judge will mostly head the investigation which will probe activities such as beating up of devotees and the police in Nilakkal and Pampa, reported The Hindu.
An Ayyappa devotee, R Rajendran from Alappuzha had filed the complaint. The unfortunate events happened en route Sabarimala on 17 October. He claimed that the events that transpired were an attempt to destroy the temple at the instance of persons and organisations within and outside the country.
He also alleged that the police had provided protection to the activists. Devotees, on the other hand were left unguarded. Because the antecedents were made to feel secure, they created unrest and havoc in the temple, said the report.
Rajendran also raised doubts on the activities of activists and has sought to probe the conspiracy as to whose behest these activists had acted.
Kadakampally Surendran, the Devaswom Minister admitted that there was a conspiracy behind it. He alleged that the government was doing nothing to unravel the same.
