Following the tightening of immigration rules in the United States of America under President Donald Trump’s administration, Indian IT company Infosys had set a target of hiring 10,000 locals from within the United States by 2021. Out of these, the company has already hired, said the company CEO Salil Parekh, according to this report in the Economic Times.

“Out of our target for 10,000 local hires, we have achieved 4,000 local hires. We made 800 college hires in FY18, we are looking at getting that to 1,000 in the next year,” the report quotes Parekh as saying.

These remarks came at Morgan Stanley’s twentieth annual summit held in Mumbai. This is also a part of Parekh’s three year strategic plan which seeks to transform Infosys.

With immigration to United States getting tougher with Donald Trump as president, many Indian tech companies face similar challenges. They either adapt to the new rules of the game, or risk losing market share to Indian and global rivals.
