In the wake of Pulwama attacks, veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar has announced that a donation of Rs 1 crore will be handed over to the Indian Army on April 24 which is also her father Master Dinanath Mangeshkar’s death anniversary.
“Many people in the industry always help soldiers who sacrifice their lives for the nation. Even now, people from the industry are helping out. We have also announced something from our end,” said Mangeshkar to Maharashtra Times as reported by Hindustan Times.
With her announcement, Lata joins Akshay Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan and several others who have also donated funds for the soldiers.
Akshay Kumar pledged to donate ₹5 crore through Bharat Ke Veer which is a fundraising initiative of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. While Amitabh Bachchan confirmed that he will be giving ₹5 lakh to each of the soldiers’ families and is currently finding the correct method to do so and cricketer Virender Sehwag pledged to take care of the education of the children of the soldiers who lost their lives in the recent attack.
