After Doubling Train Length, Namma Metro Reports Surge In Revenues, Collects Rs 1.3 Crore In A Day

Days after the Namma Metro in Bengaluru increased the number of coaches on its Purple Line from three to six, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has reported its revenue collections to have gone up to Rs 1.3 crore on Monday (2 July). According to a report by The Times of India, daily revenue was Rs 35.4 lakh at the end of May 2017.
Collections increased to Rs 93.8 lakh by May 2018 and breached the Rs 1 crore mark in July when longer trains were deployed on the Purple Line. The Green Line however, still has only three coach trains.
The BMRCL’s annual earnings till the end of March 2017 was Rs 130 crore which went up to Rs 325 crore over the next one year.
Six coach trains however will not run on weekends, as reported by The New Indian Express.
