Subscribers of the direct-to-home (DTH) operator Dish TV will not receive Star India channels, reports the Television Post.

Through a disconnection notice, Star India informed the operator that users of Dish TV would not be able to avail their channels due to non-payment of subscription fees, non-signing of the subscription agreement, and breach of the subscription agreement.

The net subscriber base of 23.5 million of Dish TV, Videocon D2H and Zing will not receive the channels after three weeks from the disconnection notice, i.e. 7 December 2018.

This is not the first time Dish TV has had Star India cancelling the subscription.

In March this year, Star issued disconnection notices for the non-signing of agreements after negotiations failed. In April, both the parties made peace and agreed to enter a negotiated deal by the month-end. However Star India, even before the disconnection date, moved the Telecom Disputes and Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT), seeking directions for Dish TV for a Reference Interconnect Offer (RIO) deal.

Previously, Star India had gone head to head with Airtel Digital TV asking for growth due to the addition of the Indian Premier League into its broadcasting.

Dish TV CMD Jawahar Goel had said that the company is doing 3-4 month contracts keeping in mind the tariff order by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The new agreement between the parties needs to happen from TRAI’s new tariff order that came in force on Third July.
