N Chandrasekaran led Tata Sons has announced a Rs 1,000 crore donation for India’s war against coronavirus, over and above the Rs 500 crore pledge made by Ratan Tata led Tata Trusts earlier in the day.
This means that the Tata group will contribute a total of Rs 1,500 crore towards battling the coronavirus pandemic.
In a press release Tata Sons announced that it will work collectively with Tata Trusts to support its initiatives. The group will also work towards arranging medical ventilators and begin the process to manufacture them.
In a social media post, the Chairman of the Tata Trusts Ratan Tata had said, "The COVID 19 crisis is one of the toughest challenges we will face as a race. The Tata Trusts and the Tata group companies have in the past risen to the needs of the nation. At this moment, the need of the hour is greater than any other time."
