After US And China, Qualcomm To Push For iPhone Sales Ban In Germany Over Patent Infringement Allegations

United States chipmaker, Qualcomm, took steps to enforce a court order which banned the sale of various iPhone models in Germany, reports Financial Express. The move will see Apple Inc pulling out models from their stores in Germany after patent dispute between the two companies.
A spokesperson of Gravis, the largest reseller of Apple products in Germany, said that the company still has all the Apple products for sale, including the iPhone 7 and 8 models.
Qualcomm is trying to ban the Apple iPhones in Germany, following similar move in United States and China over allegations of patent infringement. The chipmaker, on Thurday (3 January), had posted bonds of $1.5 billion, which is a requirement for the German court order to come into effect. The court, on 20 December, had found that Apple was infringing Qualcomm patents over the technology of power-saving in its phones.
Post-verdict, Apple said in a statement that it would be pulling all the iPhone 7 and 8 models from it’s own 15 retail stores in the country once the order comes to force. However, contradicting Qualcomm’s interpretation, Apple said it would be offering all its iPhones at retail and carrier locations in Germany.
While Apple plans to appeal the December verdict, they declined to comment on the chipmaker’s latest move, and only referred to their statement post-verdict.
Qualcomm in a statement said that the court order forces Apple to stop the sale, offer for sale and importation for sale all the infringing iPhones in the country.
