After World’s Longest Sea-Bridge, China To Build It’s First Under-Sea Tunnel For High-Speed Trains

China is planning to build an undersea tunnel to facilitate the movement of high-speed trains along the 70 km route between Ningbo and Zhoushan, as reported by Xinhua. The project, to be built in the eastern Zhejiang province, will cover around 16.2 km of undersea area.
The trains will run at speeds touching 250 kmph and help bring down the commute time between the two cities from 1.5 hours to 30 minutes.
China has the world's largest high-speed rail network, spanning over 27,000 kilometres. This represents over two-thirds of the world’s high-speed rail tracks that are currently being used. It has also revealed plans to lay another 10,000 km of tracks on which trains can run at a speed of 250 kmph.
Recently China’s President-For-Life, Xi Jinping inaugurated the longest sea bridge in the world, connecting Hong Kong and Macau with Zhuhai city in the Chinese Mainland. The bridge also has a 7-km long underwater tunnel which also has a high-speed rail link.
China is also building the world’s longest double-decker suspension bridge. The bridge, called the Yangsigang Bridge, has a single span of 1,700 metres (5,577 feet) and will be built over the Yangtze River.
