Agni-IV Nuclear-Capable Missile With 4,000 Km Range Successfully Tested

India has successfully test-fired its nuclear-capable ballistic missile Agni-IV, which has a strike range of 4,000 km, as part of a user trial by the Army.
The missile was tested-fired from the Integrated Test Range at Dr Abdul Kalam Island, earlier known as Wheeler Island, in Odisha.
"The successful test was part of routine user training launches carried out under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command. The launch validated all operational parameters as also the reliability of the system," the Ministry of Defence said in a statement released after the test.
"The successful test reaffirms India's policy of having a 'Credible Minimum Deterrence' Capability," the ministry added.
The Agni-IV, developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation, is a two-stage solid-fueled missile. The intermediate-range ballistic missile is 20 metres long, 1.2 meters in diameter, and has a weight of 17 tonnes. It has been designed to carry a 1,000 kg payload.
The missile was tested for the first time in December 2010.
