Ahead of Dasara celebrations in Mysuru, special flights had been announced between state capital Bengaluru and the tier-2 city a few days ago. And, it seems, the offer is now a big hit with the public. Priced at Rs 999 plus taxes, Air India has received as many as 700 bookings so far.

A subsidiary of Air India, Alliance Air, is using the 72-seater aircraft to provide the services every day other than Tuesday. The total time of the journey is about 50 minutes, The Hindu reported. On 11 October, the service was launched and it will end on 19 October. Weekends and the last few days of the celebrations are expected to receive a lot more bookings.

An initiative of the Department of Tourism and Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC), it aims at providing easy connectivity via air to Mysuru.

The Hindu quoted Uday Kumar, KSTDC’s Regional Manager (Mysuru) as saying, “Up to 19 October, as many as 1,400 seats are available for booking. Almost half of these have been booked and more are awaited since the price has caught the attention of visitors.”

Unlike previous years, the flights are now taking off from Bengaluru international airport. In the past, HAL airport was being used.
