‘Air Strike Has Made India’s Intentions Clear’: Here Are The Highlights Of President Kovind’s Parliament Address

President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday (20 June) addressed the joint session of the Indian Parliament wherein he encompassed a wide range of topics including national security, economy, development goals and government schemes.

Calling the NDA Government’s victory as a clear and historic mandate, he said that the government is working towards a strong, secure and inclusive India.

Stressing upon the need to conserve water for future generations, President Kovind called the creation of the new Jal Shakti Ministry as a decisive step in that direction.

Coming to rural India, President Kovind said that efforts are being made to develop the nation’s villages and Rs 25 lakh crore would be spent in that regard.

In case of healthcare he informed that in total 26 lakh poor patients have benefited under Ayushman Bharat and the number of wellness centres would be increased to 1.5 lakh by 2022.

He stressed upon the need to eradicate social ills like Triple Talaq and Nikah Halala for providing equality and improving the lives of women.

President Kovind also stressed the current government’s zero tolerance towards corruption and protecting transparency, while at the same time safeguarding the interests of the Indian middle class.

Speaking on education, President Kovind said that the total seats in educational institutions are being increased by 50 per cent.

While speaking on the subject of national security, President Kovind ominously warned India’s enemies by declaring that they will not be spared. He also lauded the Balakot Air Strike carried out by Indian Air Force in Balakot and DRDO’s Mission Shakti.

“National security is paramount for my government, surgical strike and air strike on terror camps have made India's intentions clear”, said President Kovind.

He also called illegal immigrants as a grave threat to India’s internal security and assured that the NRC would be implemented on a priority basis. While concluding his speech, President Kovind hoped for the introduction of “One Nation One Election”, which he claims would help India grow faster.
