Former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran (PTI)
Former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran, his brother Kalanithi Maran and others were discharged by the Patiala House Court today (2 February) in connection with the Aircel-Maxis case, reported ANI. The court reportedly did not find sufficient evidence to prosecute the brothers.
The chief accusation against the Maran brothers, in cases lodged by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate, was that they had helped Malaysian communications company Maxis acquire Indian mobile network operator Aircel in exchange for kickbacks worth approximately Rs 700 crore.
