In preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s likely visit to Israel later this year, National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval met with the country’s top leadership on a two-day visit there, reported the Indian Express.

In addition to meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Doval caught up with his counterpart, acting National Security Adviser and Head of the National Security Council, Brigadier General (retd) Jacob Nagel. The topic of discussion reportedly was the likely visit of the Indian Prime Minister to Israel this summer. Netanyahu is expected to return the favour later in the year.

This year marks the twenty-fifth since India and Israel established full diplomatic relations. Although New Delhi formally recognised the Jewish nation in September 1950, embassies opened only in 1992. Ever since, defence and agriculture have formed the base upon which the two countries have flourished bilaterally. In the recent years, science and technology, education and security have also become part of the bilateral agenda.
