A showcase notice has been issued to two students by Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) for a Tricolor bike rally allegedly organised without taking prior consent from the authorities. The university administration also claimed that the rally brought 'outsiders and anti-social elements'.

Mohammad Mohsin Khan, the AMU Proctor, sent the showcase notice to the two students identified as Sonveer and Ajay Singh.

“It has been reported by the Security Personnel of the Proctor Office that you along with some unidentified persons assembled…on 22.01.2019 at about 12:00 Noon and organised a bike rally without prior permission from the competent authority while classes in the University on peak level," read the notice as reported by DNA India.

Furthermore, the notice said that the students violated AMU Students' Conduct and Discipline Rules, 1985 and that action will be taken against them if they fail to provide their explanation.

Responding to the incidence, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Dalbir Singh expressed severe disappointment and said that his grandson and his nephew Ajay Singh did no wrong by initiating the Tricolor rally, reports ANI News.

Taking a jibe at the university, the BJP lawmaker said that the university orchestrates many rallies on various occasions and one was even organised in support of Afzal Guru.
