In a positive development, all the pending applications for domicile certificates of the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) will be provided over the course of next 15 days, reports Times of India.

The action comes after UT's newly appointed Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha took stock of the progress in the disbursement of domicile certificates and found that there was 90 per cent pendency of online applications for domicile certificates.

LG Sinha also directed the officials to ensure seamless issuance of domicile certificates for permanent resident certificate (PRC) holders without requiring any additional documents.

LG Sinha also warned that pendency will not be excused post 10 September deadline and action will be taken against the irresponsible and underperforming officers.

In a bid to facilitate greater and smoother interaction between the officials and the people of the UT, LG Sinha instructed the officials to be accessible to the general public and elected representatives at the grassroots levels.

LG Sinha also took up a review of several other matters of importance like slow payment of wages under MGNREGA, fall in payments under PM-Kisan Yojana, discrepancies in the enrolment under the centre's flagship Ayushman Bharat Yojana and also Aadhaar enrolment. He set 30 September as the deadline for 100 per cent Aadhaar enrolment to ensure uninterrupted disbursal of benefits through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.
