Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday (26 May) directed the nation's military to scale up the battle preparedness by visualising the worst-case scenarios, reports Economic Times.
The Chinese President directed the nation’s military to think about worst-case scenarios, scale up training and battle preparedness, promptly and effectively deal with all sorts of complex situations and resolutely safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests.
Xi, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks while attending a plenary meeting of the delegation of the People's Liberation Army and People's Armed Police Force, at the third session of the 13th National People's Congress.
Xi’s comments came in the backdrop of nearly 20-day long ongoing standoff between India and China at the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
In a clear sign of escalating tensions between India and China, the armies of the two nations have built-up and hardened respective positions in several areas along the LAC in Ladakh and North Sikkim.
Besides India, the military frictions between the United States and China are also on the rise with the US navy increasing its patrols in the disputed South China Sea as well as the Taiwan Straits.
