Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah today (17 July) named Union Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Information and Broadcasting M Venkaiah Naidu as the Vice-Presidential nominee in the upcoming vice-presidential election to be held in August. The announcement was made at a press conference at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi.
The decision was taken at the BJP’s Parliamentary Board meeting held earlier today which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Naidu had emerged as a front runner as the vice-presidential candidate after the nomination of Ram Nath Kovind as the President of India.
