West Bengal Chief Minister was seen angrily confronting villagers after they chanted Jai Shri Ram while her cavalcade was passing through the West Midnapore district on Saturday afternoon (4 May), Hindustan Times has reported.

Soon after the incident, the video went viral on social media and was also shared by the Twitter account of BJP Bengal.

In the video, the villagers of Radhaballavpur area in Chandrakona are seen chanting the holy slogan Jai Shri Ram and suddenly Mamata’s convoy came to a stop and out sprang the West Bengal Chief Minister to confront the villagers.

Seeing an angry Mamata, a few of them became nervous and decided to flee after which they were chided by Mamata and were accused of being abusive. She also demanded that they come back, possibly so that she could further lash out at them.

Subsequently the West Bengal police detained two individuals for ‘insulting the Chief Minister’ and also labelled them as BJP supporters.

TMC later came up with a defence by alleging a malicious spin on the video by the BJP and accused the party of creating falsehood.
