Smartphone manufacturer Apple has acquired patents for a touch-sensitive surface capable of scrolling/flipping pages on a connected display and a smart fabric which can transmit remote control commands, reports Mint.
According to the website ‘Patently Apple’, the company could integrate sensors on its back glass. The website also claims that Apple has applied for patents related to tilt control technology. These technologies could be deployed in MacBooks, iPads, Apple Watch and AirPods.
“The electronic device defined in claim 2 wherein the control circuitry changes the content by flipping pages of text displayed on the flexible display layer based on the tilt angle,” the patent filing says.
On the other hand, the smart fabric can gather user touch inputs and transmit wireless signals. The image of the patent depicts a cylindrical remote wrapped in the smart fabric. The walls of the remote can be compressed. Therefore, these walls could be designed as pressure sensitive surfaces.
Apple recently released a new update to its watch series four and achieved the feat of making such a small device capable of taking an electrocardiogram (ECG). It will also send notifications if the user has an irregular heartbeat.
The feature, which was announced during an event in September, went live last week. All the older series watches will also support the irregular notification feature but lack the ECG.
