The final safety inspection that the Aqua line connecting Noida with Greater Noida was required to clear before becoming operational has concluded successfully, with the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) writing to the Uttar Pradesh government for a decision to be made on the inauguration, reports The Indian Express.

The new route will run from Sector 71 station in Noida up to Depot Station in Greater Noida, with a total length of 29.7 km and stops at 21 stations.

“The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) report has been received and it has its sanction for the commercial operations of the metro service. The report also praised the civil and track work of the metro system,” Executive Director of NMRC P D Upadhyay stated.

He added that the fares of the Aqua line will be fixed in the NMRC board meeting that is to be held on 28 December. The meeting will be chaired by Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, and NMRC chairman Sanjay K Murthy.
