Private players can now supply some of the essential items that were earlier under the ambit of the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB), to the Indian Army.

According to a report, the Defence Ministry has created a new list with fewer products for the factories under OFB to produce and supply. The 150-odd dropped items, or “non-core” items, have been made open to production by private entities.

The apparent purpose of the move is to let OFB focus on manufacturing ammunition and armaments and provide some impetus to the private industry.
