With continuing protests by farmers from Punjab and their mass gathering at Delhi's entry points, Union Minister for Agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar has invited the leaders of the farmer unions for talks today (1 December), reports Hindustan Times.

The meeting between Tomar and the leaders of the farmer unions will be held at Vigyan Bhawan at 3 pm today in Delhi, earlier than the 3 December date when Centre had proposed to hold talks with the agitating protesters.

Tomar has said that the Government had on 13 November decided to hold talks on 3 December, but due to continued protests amid COVID-19 situation and winters, the decision to prepone the talks has been taken.

Tomar has extended an invitation to all the farmer unions which were present in the earlier round of meeting. He has also urged the farmers to leave the agitation and come for the talks.

Before this, the Government has already held two rounds of meetings with the farmers. The first such meeting was held on 14 October at Secretary level, and the second meeting was held on 13 November at Ministerial level.
