A model of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
The total donations received from the devotees across the nation for the building of a grand temple of Lord Ram in the holy city of Ayodhya have surpassed a whopping Rs 2,100 crore under the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP)'s 44-day fundraising campaign, reports Times of India.
Sharing the development, trust's treasurer Govind Dev Giri said, "The fundraising campaign ended with generous contributions from crosssections of people, including residents of far-flung villages of India, blurring religious barriers. Total donations received has crossed Rs 2,100 crore on Saturday evening."
Launched on 15 January, the fund-raising campaign ended yesterday, garnering an overwhelming response from the masses.
It should be noted that the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust had initially estimated a cost of Rs 1,100 crore for building the entire temple complex. But the overwhelming response to drive saw the Trust receiving Rs 1,000 crore more than the estimate.
