India's leading DTH operator Tata Sky has announced that it is withdrawing the three year warranty offer under its rental scheme on new set-top-boxes effective 1 October, reports Dream DTH.
Tata Sky will now provide a one year warranty on the new set-top-boxes purchased from 1 October. This one year warranty will cover set-top box, viewing card, remote, dish, converter, and other equipment.
Those customers who had purchased set-top-boxed under the rental scheme till 30 September will continue to get a 3 year warranty. The three year warranty was only applicable on Tata Sky's rental scheme and customers who had outright purchased the set-top-boxes before 1 October used to only get a one year warranty.
Tata Sky had recently announced that that it would be sourcing most of its set-top-box components from Indian manufacturers. This manufacturing realignment is expected to take shape by early next year.
