Bengal Violence: Indic Collective To Approach Supreme Court For Deployment Of Central Forces In State

Amid widespread political violence against workers and sympathisers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal, a registered trust ‘Indic Collective’ which pursues legal actions has decided to approach the Supreme Court to put an end to bloodshed.
“Deeply disturbed by the violent aftermath of the elections in West Bengal, we have decided to approach the Supreme Court, asking for central security forces to be deployed to put an end to the political violence,” Indic Collective tweeted.
Indic Collective intends to present the concerns and represent the ‘Indic interest’ before the courts of law.
The Indic Collective aims to take the route of advocacy and legal activism “whenever and wherever we find our culture and way of life under assault from political or cultural forces that have an agenda of their own under the garb of human rights or environmental concerns and the like”.
The Bengal BJP dispensation has been at the receiving end of a major political violence following the assembly election results in West Bengal.
The BJP's party offices in various parts of the state have been vandalised and many workers and their properties have been attacked. The party has called it a handiwork of TMC workers.
At least six BJP workers have been killed in the state so far. The party has alleged that its women poll workers have been gangraped and many women molested in Birbhum.
The party has announced that it will hold a nationwide dharna on 5 May (Wednesday) against "the widespread violence unleashed by TMC workers post the election results in West Bengal".
