Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has launched an indoor ambulance service with two battery operated vehicles to provide fast medical emergency response, The News Minute reports.
The ambulance service will have oxygen cylinders and other important equipment to provide medical care before the patients are moved for further care to the Aster clinic in the airport premises.
The two vehicles will have emergency medical experts from the airport's medical partner, Aster Hospital. They will provide 24/7 emergency service at the domestic and international terminals.
“We launched this Indoor Ambulance Service to provide a rapid response during medical emergencies in the terminal,” chief operating officer, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), Thomas Hoff Andersson said.
Treatment would start as soon as the patient is on board the ambulance and would continue on the journey to the hospital. The aim of the ambulance service is to provide the best care for passengers who need emergency support, he adds.
