Screengrab of assault on cops
Bike-borne youths in Bengaluru who were over-speeding and performing stunts were caught on camera assaulting cops after breaching a checkpost during the 21 day nationwide lockdown.
Incidentally, after being eventually apprehended by the police, one of the youths tried to engineer an escape by pelting stones and bricks. He was eventually shot in the leg by the cops to prevent him from escaping.
As per a Deccan Herald report, a youth identified as Tajoddin and his friends had breached a police barricade in Bhoopasandra yesterday (25 March) afternoon. After the police gave chase and stopped them, the youths began to assault them.
The assault was also caught on camera.
Bengaluru Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao took cognisance of the matter and assured that the youths would severely regret it.
Incidentally, after the cops arrested Tajoddin and his friend, they were taken to Magahar when the former tried to escape custody by again launching an assault.
After fleeing a short distance, Tajoddin pelted stones and bricks at the chasing cops, which injured a sub-inspector and head constable.
Sanjayanagar police inspector as a result fired two shots in the air to stop Tajoddin but when he still continued to flee, the inspector shot him in the leg. He is now undergoing treatment at a city hospital.
