In an election rally in New Delhi on Wednesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah cut short the chant of ‘Goli Maaro...’ by the crowd, saying, ‘Bewakoofi band karo na bhaiyya [stop this stupidity]”, The Times of India has reported.

Shah was addressing a public meeting at Kondli in east Delhi for BJP candidate Rajkumar Dhillon.

As the crowd began “Goli maaro..”, Shah interrupted and said, “Arre suno bhai, suno bhai… Button dabao.” He later added “Bewakoofi band karo na bhaiyya”, the report says.

In the rally, Shah said that if BJP is voted to power in Delhi, JNU students Sharjeel Imam, Kanhaiya Kumar and Umar Khalid would be put behind bars.

“Give us a mandate. In an hour’s time, after our government is formed, these three will be jailed as prosecution permission for them will be given by BJP,” the report has quoted Shah as saying.

In a recent election rally, Minister of State for Finance, Anurag Thakur, led the slogan "Desh ke gaddaron ko...goli maaro s**lon ko (shoot the nation's traitors)."

The slogan created a row and Thakur was later temporarily banned from campaigning for the Delhi Assembly elections.
