Former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala has suffered a significant jolt as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has provisionally attached his properties worth Rs 1.94 crore in a case of corruption under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, reports Hindu BusinessLine.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had filed a charge sheet against Om Prakash Chautala, Abhay Singh Chautala and Ajay Singh Chautala under the PMLA, 1988, which led to the initiation of the ED proceedings against the former chief minister.

The CBI investigations had revealed that Chautala had acquired assets disproportionate to his known sources of income to the tune of Rs 6,09,79,026 between 24 May 1993 and 31 May 2006.

PMLA investigations also revealed that Chautala had acquired immovable properties at New Delhi and Panchkula while also having built a house at Sirsa from the money he gained from undisclosed sources.

It was also learnt that Chautala had unduly acquired and projected various tainted properties as his untainted properties in his affidavit for the 2005 and 2009 Haryana Vidhan Sabha elections.
