In a major step towards boosting the access and quality of education across the Kashmir Valley, the Government of the Union territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) has established 25 'smart schools' in Srinagar, reports Asian News International (ANI).

The newly launched schools are equipped with libraries, science laboratories, smart classrooms and other such facilities which are expected to enhance the quality of education provided to the students and youth of the Valley.

The development of these 25 schools was undertaken as a pilot project which involved refurbishment of entire school buildings, overhauling of the academic structure and bolstering the school buildings with modern infrastructure.

Lauding the development, a student from the Valley, Mehreen Bhat said, "I have not seen facilities like smart boards and projectors even in private schools, it has made studying more fun. Here facilities are better than private schools. The environment and the teachers of the school are also very pleasant."

Supporting the views shared by Bhat, another student added, "We are now practically being taught and there is better learning. The learning is a lot better than the private schools running here."

The completion of the establishment of 25 smart schools was made public by the government on 19 January.
