Indian Railways is set to launch a Tejas Express train between the national capital Delhi and Uttarakhand’s capital Dehradun via the holy pilgrimage city of Haridwar, reports Economic Times.
An agreement in principle to introduce a Tejas Express train between Delhi-Haridwar-Dehradun has been given on a request by the state's Chief Minister (CM) Trivendra SIngh Rawat to Union Minister for Railways Piyush Goyal.
The two leaders had also held a meeting over the matter in Delhi following which Goyal announced that the project would be implemented as soon as the pathway is available. He went on to assure that there will be no budgetary shortage for railway projects in the State.
During their meeting, CM Rawat also requested Goyal for a go ahead for the Lalkuan-Khatima, Tanakpur-Bageshwar and Kashipur-Dhampur railway line projects as the State gears up to host in Haridwar city the 2021 Kumbh.
Goyal assured CM Rawat that the arrangements for safe and convenient travel of the pilgrims for Kumbh 2021 will be made on the lines of the Prayagraj Kumbh by the Indian Railways.
