In a shocking development, a 72-year-old woman suspected to be infected with covid-19 quietly ran away from Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) after doctors prescribed her coronavirus test, reports Hindustan Times.

According to hospital authorities, the woman, identified as Raisa Begum, is a resident of Siwan and was admitted to the hospital suffering from kidney-related ailment. When doctors prescribed her covid-19 test, she left even before the hospital staff could collect her sample for test.

PMCH principal Dr Vidyapati Choudhary reportedly said, “She was in the process of being shifted from the Tata Ward (exclusively for women) to the quarantine section for coronavirus suspects, when she left the hospital against medical advice. We could not take her sample for Covid-19 test.”

The hospital administration has filed a complaint with the police who have registered a case against her.

Moreover, the woman has switched off the mobile number which her relatives had mentioned at the time of admission at the hospital.

Till now 63 confirmed COVID-19 cases are reported from the state. One person has died due to the disease while 18 others have been cured, said the state Health Department in a statement. Notably, Siwan accounts for 29 of the 64 coronavirus cases reported so far in Bihar.
