Senior Congressman and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad vehemently opposed the order on Article 370 which has scrapped the special status vested to Jammu and Kashmir.
While strongly opposing the move, Azad accused the BJP of murdering the constitution. He also called the former state geographically, historically and politically different which was bound by Article 370. He also vowed to fight against this order by the Indian government along with other opposition political parties.
Incidentally, Nitish Kumar led NDA ally JD(U) also opposed this move by stating that it has a different thinking on the matter.
“Our chief Nitish Kumar is carrying forward the tradition of JP Narayan, Ram Manohar Lohia and George Fernandes. So, our party is not supporting the Bill moved in the Rajya Sabha today. We have different thinking. We want that Article 370 should not be revoked”, JD(U) spokesperson K C Tyagi was quoted as saying.
Besides National Conference and PDP, this abrogation has been opposed by DMK, RJD, MDMK and Trinamool have opposed it.
