Initial trends in Rajasthan suggest that the BJP has taken early leads as ballot boxes open for 2019. It is a pleasant start for the saffron party, which would be looking to seal the northern state, repeating its performance of 2014.

The saffron party is reportedly leading in Jaipur Rural, where the contest is between Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore and Congress candidate and sportsperson Krishna Poonia. Rathore had defeated Congress’s CP Joshi in 2014. Exit polls have suggested that Rathore will emerge the winner here.

Six months after the Vasundhara Raje government was sent out of power, BJP is expected to restore its Lok Sabha 2014 glory. Raje's son Dushyant Singh, a BJP candidate, is leading from Jhalawar. Singh had won with a huge margin of more than 2 lakh votes in 2014. The seat could easily be called his bastion going by his performance in the previous Lok Sabha polls.

BJP was moving ahead in early trends in Ganganagar. Here, Nihalchand would be looking at restoring his hold on the seat.

In Uttar Pradesh, in very early trends, BJP was neck and neck with its opponents, Mahagathbandhan and Congress. Now, it seems to have a clear edge. Between its two opponents, the Mahagathbandhan seems to be the main challenger.
