Following her party’s unprecedented success in the state, West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Roopa Ganguly has stated that they could’ve done even better had the state’s ruling party Trinamool not used violence to influence the polls, reports The Economic Times.

The BJP was clinched 18 seats in the state, while 22 have been picked up Trinamool.

"People are tired of Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal. Had the elections been held in a fair manner BJP would have won more than 30 seats here that is what Banerjee was afraid of, hence the violence in all seven phases," Ganguly stated.

The actress-turned-politician further asserted that there could be another flare up of violence created by Trinamool in those places where the BJP had not won even though they had done well.

Ganguly also expressed confidence that her party would return to power in those states it had recently lost out on forming the government.
