Government of Karnataka has given the required approval for the installation of Boeing’s new product development and engineering facility in Bengaluru. After all the formalities, the terms and conditions were finalised and were pending approval from the government.
A delegation from Boeing met Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Monday, September 24 to discuss the proposed investment plan, reported Deccan Herald. This facility is said to be Boeing’s second largest facility after its Seattle based engineering and technology centre .
The facility is spread across 36 acres located at the aerospace park near the international airport in Bengaluru. This will create more than 3,000 jobs after completion of the project.
It is supposed to be functional by the end of this year, in December. Due to a disagreement with respect to land leasing clauses with the previous Congress government, the project’s approval was stalled. The company will focus on product development, induction of newer technologies, components and assembling control equipment at their new facility.
Aircrafts including passenger, military, unmanned aerial vehicles will be developed. In July 2017, Boeing informed the media that it is expecting nearly 2,100 new orders from Indian airline groups for manufacturing. The business will be worth USD 290 billion over a span of two decades.
