Following the judgement by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in Kulbhushan Jadhav case, India has been in touch with Pakistan for full consular access to the Indian national, who is in the custody of the Islamic nation, reports Times of India.

"We expect full consular should be granted at the earliest - in full compliance and full conformity with the ICJ judgement and the Vienna Convention," said Raveesh Kumar, spokesperson, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

Kumar added that the consular officials of India were in touch with Pakistan through the diplomatic channels.

India had taken the case to the ICJ after Pakistan denied consular access to Jadhav despite repeated requests by New Delhi.

The ICJ, in its verdict, upheld India's assertion that Pakistan has violated the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, 1963 by not allowing India access to Jadhav.

In its 42-page order, the court said that a “continued stay of execution constitutes an indispensable condition for the effective review” of the sentence of Jadhav, awarded by a military court in Pakistan.
