Book On Delhi Riots Sees Huge Demand As Garuda Prakashan Starts Pre-Order After Bloomsbury India's U-Turn

Readers have turned up in huge numbers to pre-order the book "Delhi Riots 2020: The Untold Story" by Monika Arora, Sonali Chitalkar and Prerna Malhotra.

The book is now being published by Garuda Prakashan which is an international publication house focusing on Indic narratives.

It was earlier reported that Bloomsbury India had backed out of publishing the book despite an agreement after a concerted campaign by leftists. Authors like William Dalrymple are said to have been involved in pressurising Bloomsbury India to back-off.

The author Monika Arora later also took to twitter to inform that Bloomsbury India refused to communicate with her over its ban despite requests, as a result of which she had decided to go ahead with publishing the book with Garuda Prakashan.

Garuda Prakashan soon confirmed the news and also started pre-orders for the book.

The response from readers was overwhelming and the servers of Garuda Prakashan crashed soon after. The publication has now set up an alternate purchase mode for the readers.

Bloomsbury India meanwhile has been facing major flack with authors like Sanjeev Sanyal, Sanjay Dixit and Dr Anand Ranganathan announcing a boycott of the publisher.

Sanjay Dixit announced that he has decided to publish his book Nullifying Article 370 and Enacting CAA with Garuda Prakashan after cancelling his contract with Bloomsbury.

Many social media user too posted that they will not be buying books from the publisher in the future.
