Launch of the PSLV-C32/IRNSS-1F (ISRO)
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in a press conference on Saturday (16 May) announced the reforms in India’s space sector to boost the participation of private players.
The minister said that the private players including the start-ups will be provided with a level-playing field in Satellites, launches, and space-based services.
The government will provide a predictable policy and regulatory environment to the private players, the minister said.
In a bid to improve its capacities, the private sector will be allowed to use ISRO facilities and other relevant assets.
Besides, future projects for planetary exploration and outer space travel will be now be open to the private sector.
The government will also come up with a liberal geospatial data policy for providing remote-sensing data to tech-entrepreneurs, the minister said.
