After the Congress and other opposition party leaders attempted visit to Kashmir, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati took to Twitter to slam the Congress leaders over playing politics on Kashmir issue amid the efforts of the union government to stabilise the region.

Today morning (26 August), Mayawati tweeted that BSP had supported the abrogation of special status of Kashmir as Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar was himself against the provision. “He was in favour of equality, unity and integrity of India,” she said in a tweet.

She further said that the step that came more than 69 years after the independence, and it will take some time before the situation is back to normal in the valley. “It is better be patient and give the required time to the government, as the Supreme Court itself has stated,” she added.

Mayawati said that in such a situation, it was not appropriate for the Congress and other opposition parties' leaders to go to Kashmir and accused them of politicising the situation, and giving an opportunity to union government and the state governor to do politics over it.

She added that the parties should have waited and thought over their actions before going to Kashmir.
