Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, presenting the Budget on Saturday (1 February) for the financial year 2020-21, announce that the union government had approved Rs 3.6 lakh crore which will be allocated under ‘Jal For All Mission’.

Also known as Jal jeevan mission, it aims at meeting the clean drinking water needs of people across the country, mainly in the areas where water scarcity has been a problem over the years.

In 2019, the central government had promised to provide all households in India with clean drinking water by 2024.

The budget comes at a time when the Indian economy is bracing through a slowdown. The nation awaits to listen what FM Sitharaman and her team at the Ministry have packed in the budget's edition to reinvigorate the animal spirits of the economy.
